Working to make local government work for its citizens has always been my number one priority, and I bring a unique combination of skills and experiences that I want to put to work for all the residents of Gilroy.
I understand where Gilroy is as a city right now, how my neighbors and many Gilroyan’s view the city and the changes they want, as well as what can be done to accomplish those changes.
During my political career, I worked with Democrats and Republicans, liberals, and conservatives, on big ideas and small ideas.
It is the responsibility of leaders to work together, put personal issues aside, and get to work for the people. I have done that for the past four years, and I want to continue to do that. Most of all, I want to continue to listen to my all neighbors and constituents through-out Gilroy so I can be their voice at City Hall.
I believe there are key issues that Gilroy needs to address.
The City of Gilroy must provide resources that get our businesses back open and our employees back to work. In addition to managing our finances wisely, our recovery starts with protecting the most vulnerable affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Our future should be to continue creating better-paying jobs, continue supporting our small businesses, continue improving our neighborhoods, and making housing affordable for those who require it.
Every individual deserves to be safe in our city, no matter what. I will continue to fight to ensure public safety officers receive appropriate funding, training and the proper equipment to do their jobs. In addition to fighting to support an increased police presence in our neighborhoods and on our streets.
We must have the courage to plan to continue our growth deliberately and intentionally and be smart about planning for our future to continue to thrive.
Over the last four years, we have set strong foundations in our planning efforts that will continue to guide our growth as a city in a way that is responsible and inclusive. A strong downtown can stimulate economic growth and serve as an incubator of social and community development. Let us continue to grow economically by spending in town and supporting local and family-owned businesses. Our neighborhood businesses are also at the heart of our local economy, and we should do everything we can to help them succeed.
Recommitting to our community and citizens is needed now more than ever. Minimizing budget cuts to the most vulnerable is of dire importance. Increasing support for those with the highest needs is equally as important. This includes all of our youth, on up to our Seniors Citizens and everyone in between.
Revitalizing our economy is at the forefront of mind. I will continue to review our options and find ways to create a rejuvenated atmosphere surrounding our local businesses. Our city needs additional revenue. Encouraging the prospering of new projects and increasing jobs has been a proven key to the thriving economy that Gilroy so desperately needs. I will continue to help those who currently own a small business and those who want to open a business in our town this a commitment I take very seriously.
I pride myself on being a tireless advocate for my constituents and I feel that one of my most important duties as a councilmember is to assist residents in accessing city services. I am always ready to listen if you are having trouble with a city service or have ideas about how to make Gilroy a better place to live. You can always contact me through phone, text, email, or social media – anytime about anything. My policy is an open door one for all citizens of Gilroy to voice their opinions and be heard.
The past four years on City Council has been the biggest honor of my professional career to represent the city I love.
My priority has always been to give my time and dedication to my constituents, and to always listen to them.
Representing my neighbors and making local government work for them is a personal passion of mine. I want a second term on the council to continue the work that I have already begun, and to work on the changes necessary to make our city and neighborhoods even better. I would be honored and humbled to continue to serve the community I am proud to call home.
The most important reason that I am seeking a second term on city council is to make sure YOUR VOICE is heard, and to ensure we continue to work towards greater transparency, better communication and notifications of proposals/plans so that you also have an opportunity to be part of the city government process and are never caught by surprise at proposed changes within our city.
I remain committed to continuing Gilroy tradition of vision and planning. I am committed to continuing the work with our current council and our new future council members and Mayor. I am committed to ensuring that Gilroy a wonderful place for all people to live.
